Felt&Wire berichtet in Recycling yesterday’s news über die Herstellung und Verwendung von holzartigen Produkten, die aus Papier- und Zeitungsresten hergestellt werden:

[…] In an effort to decrease the use of new raw materials, designers around the world are turning the tables (pun intended) on conventional production processes. Instead of making paper from wood pulp, papers — in this case newspapers — are being recycled back into “wood” planks and other building materials. […]

Es werden einige Anwendungsbeispiele gezeigt. Besonders hat es mir aber das Newspaper Wood angetan, eine Erfindung der Holländerin Mieke Meijer. What is NewspaperWood?:

[…] During her study at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2003, Mieke Meijer devised a solution to use this surplus of paper into a renewed material: NewspaperWood. […] The basic material is the ‚Eindhovens Dagblad‘ who also sponsor the project by supplying misprints and non-spread newspapers […]

Auf der Homepage sind auch einige Objekte zu sehen, die Designer aus Paperwoord hergestellt haben. Und zur Herstellung steht auf der Homepage:

[…] Therefore we use a glue to construct the material which is free of solvents and plasticizers which would make it more difficult to recycle. With this it is not only possible to put our own sawing and sandpapering waste back into the circle […]
